When I came to AUS, my social life turned upside down. Before university I was sort of anti-social. I’m still an introvert, but when I came to AUS I had the courage to speak to people, because of which I have some really amazing friends here that I spend a lot of my time with. I end up staying here until midnight sometimes because my friends live in the dorms. I also appreciate the multinational and multicultural community that AUS has, because I love meeting people from all the around the world. Being a part of clubs is also an opportunity that students have here, to meet like-minded people and make friends. I myself am a part of the Modern Visual Arts Club, and it gave me the opportunity to meet new people every semester.
To the new students who are not sure about approaching people here, I think I’d tell them to not be afraid and be yourself, because no one’s going to judge you. And if you do encounter someone who does not appreciate who you are, then just find someone else, because they’re not worth your time. I think once you gain enough self-confidence, it becomes easier to approach people.
